Some routes follow the coast but most are inland between charming old towns, villages, farms, forests and hills including Mt. Risnjak National Park and Plitvice Lakes National Park.
Winding local roads will lead you to welcoming Istrian villages, towns and forts to the ancient Roman Amphitheater. There are a number of specialized accomodation types for cyclists in Istria. To make your rides more comfortable, bike maps are available all over the peninsula, numerous trails are marked with official signs. If you want to have quality guidance however, you can always hire official guides. If you are into competition, you can participate in a number of cycling races, but also in a number of world-class competitions.
